Newborn Photography session starts with the infant phase, the stage where the baby is sleeping most of the time. At an age around 7 to 15 days, babies curl into many angelic poses. Our safe baby posing skills clubbed with classy themes will give your baby’s cute poses a lifetime charm.

​After the sleeping phase of the ‘new born’, your baby goes through rapid changes. This can be indicatively grouped based on the age of the baby. The poses and themes are chosen based on the baby’s activities and mood at the time of the shoot. Yes, your baby is the Boss!

​7 days to 15 days: The ideal time for a new born photo shoot is during this period. The baby is very flexible and will pose for the most angelic photos with ease. The intense sleep is an added advantage.​

16 days to 3o days : Your baby has started getting used to their favourite sleeping positions. Their sleep intensity is also reducing. Don’t worry we will be extra patient to give you some great memories as art. The shoot will take slightly more time but you are still not very late to do a new born photo shoot.

​1month to 2 months: Its already late for a new born photo shoot. Don’t worry, we have methods to still get some great photos during this period. May be not all new born poses. It will be a long day shoot where most of the times we will be waiting to get the baby to deep sleep so that we can pose the baby. We will not push the baby to do anything outside their natural postures and our skill levels.

Capturing your baby growing up as he or she progresses from week to week and month to month can be a very rewarding experience. It gives you a lifetime of memories which you can look over at your leisure over the years. The early days of caring for a baby are challenging and many parents lack the energy and time to appreciate each day of their lives. This is why newborn photo shoots are ideal to keep a record of those early months. Here are some of the different time frames in which you can arrange newborn photo shoots:

0 – 2 Weeks: For newborn photo shoots, photographers prefer to take pictures of the first few days of a baby’s life up to two weeks of age. This is because a baby starts to rapidly grow and does not retain the newborn appearance from their second week. Newborns are tiny, have beautiful little wrinkles that fill out rapidly, and tend to adopt the fetal position comfortably during the first two weeks. This is a unique time that does not last long and gives the photographer ample opportunity to take artistic photos of the newborn. During this phase, your baby will sleep more soundly and can be comfortably positioned to capture beautiful images.

2 Weeks to 2 Months: It is possible that due to health reasons or for personal comfort, it is not possible or desirable to take baby pictures during the first two weeks. You can opt to have your baby photographed after 2 weeks. From the second week onwards and during the weeks that follow, the baby will spend more time awake and will have lost the wrinkled appearance that newborns possess. You will be able to capture wide-open eyes, smiles, and can prop up your baby to assume a comfortable leaning or sitting position with props and accessories.

3 Months to 6 Months: As your baby becomes more capable of slight movement and
steady postures, you can take pictures of your baby playing with toys, props, and in his/her crib. Babies start to sit up starting from the 4th month and depending on how quickly they learn to assume different postures, you can take baby photo shoots of your child sitting up, playing, or moving around the house. Some children start crawling from the 6th month and it is an exciting new phase to celebrate with a photo shoot.

There are many different time frames in which a newborn or an infant photo shoot can be carried out. Always have a discussion with your photographer ahead of time to learn what may be the best option for you. 1. Schedule your shoot and use a quality camera: While Photographing kids of various age groups, one thing to be kept in mind is to synchronize your time of shooting with theirs. Be patient and converse with them – just don’t jump-start shooting. Give them some time to adjust with the camera setting otherwise they might start acting unnaturally if all of a sudden they see you pointing a camera towards them. Use minimum shooting accessories so that they do not scare them away from the lens. In this way, you will surely get all those candid, natural shots of the kids. Try to use a DSLR camera, having at least a 16-megapixel lens and telephoto capability. If you are using your mobile, then see that it has the best-configured camera.
2. Be spontaneous and do continuous shooting: If your camera is having continuous mode then use it to the hilt. Digital photos come free of cost, so take as many of them as possible. Kids are generally unpredictable and restless, so shooting a wide range of photos would maximize your chance of getting good ones. To save the hours of culling later, always delete the ones that are screwed up before starting a fresh shoot. Don’t get distracted by the kid’s behaviour. Focus the camera lens on the eyes of the child allowing some light to fall on them – asking them to stand against a dark wall will make the image instantly more alluring. Remember, kid’s face should be brighter than the background. Natural light is the best option, however, if you are thinking for an indoor photo-shoot then try positioning your child at 45 degrees from the window pane; allowing soft light to illuminate your child’s face from a side.
3. Have fun, don’t be serious while shooting: Joke with them; play with them, engage with them in every possible way, so that they forget that you have a camera in hand. It will be wonderful if you can capture your kids in all sorts of lighting-ambience. If there is a strong backlight then change your angle. If the sun is too bright then entice to come to a shady place, before embarking on the camera action. Apply your mind to place them tactfully in optimum spots; so that you can get the best out of them.
4. Experiment and Time Well: It is not always a good idea to place your child at the centre of a picture. Experiment by placing your child’s face at the various location of your camera frame. Catch them on your camera when they are in a happy mood. Try clicking them when they have walked out of good sleep or had snacks or are thinking or are distracted with toys or other activities, totally unaware of the camera – this will get you some memorable, natural photos of them.
5. Bring in Variety and eke out a natural smile: There is no protocol that you will always have to take the photos of your child from the front. Try taking their photos when they are running away from you or having their face buried in a book. Try and convey multiple stories in the one frame, this will give extra mileage to your photos. Shoot every adorable facial expression and hand gesture of your kid, whether it is a lip curl or a sparkle in the eye or a twitch in the nose. At the end don’t forget to make them smile naturally by throwing a funny joke or by handing over a packet of chocolates or biscuits.
